School begins at

time will my child be counted tardy?
Students are expected to be in their classrooms ready for announcements at
7:55. Students entering the building after 7:55 will be considered tardy and
will need to stop by the office to get a tardy slip to take to their teacher.
Three tardies constitute one absence. This becomes
important when figuring perfect attendance.
How early should I bring my child to school?
Students should not arrive at school prior to 7:30 a.m. Students
arriving between 7:30 and 7:45 should report to the gymnasium if they are in
early childhood, kindergarten, first, second or third grade and to the
cafeteria if they are in grades four, five or six. Teachers will be on duty to
supervise in these areas. Students arriving after
Should I walk my child to his or her classroom?
This usually makes children feel more secure, especially on the
first day of school. However, children will soon want to have the privilege of
coming into the building on their own to go either to the gym, cafeteria, or
their classrooms. Older students and
teachers will be on duty to assist any students who may be confused.
Where do I drop off and pick up my child?
K through 2nd Students should be
dropped off on the South side of the building. Cars should enter the parking
lot at the first entrance on
3rd through 6th Students should be dropped off on the East side (Main Entrance) of
the building. Cars should enter at the
very end of
Day Care and busses will be on the North side of the Building.
In addition, the
following procedures should be followed:
Students are to be dropped off and picked up
at the curb only. Please pull forward as far as possible before stopping to
unload students.
Students will not be allowed to cross any
lanes of traffic to enter or exit the building unless accompanied by an adult.
Adults and students should cross only at the
crosswalks.
No vehicles in the drop-off/pick-up lane next
to the curb should be unattended. This lane is a no-parking zone. Please park
in the marked spaces only.
School personnel and older students will be
assisting students into the building and ensuring that these procedures are
followed. Your cooperation is appreciated!
What time is school dismissed?
Classes are dismissed at
2:50 Bus students are dismissed to proceed to
the front of the school if they ride an Allen ISD bus and to the west side exit
for day care buses.
2:55 Walkers and parent pick-up students are
dismissed. They will leave from the west side of the building. Kindergarten,
first, second and fourth grades exit from the west side door, and third, fifth
and sixth grades exit the west back door.
What happens if an emergency prevents me from arriving at 3:15?
Please call the school office at (972) 396-6918 as soon as
possible to let us know that you will be late. Then, when you arrive sign your
child out at the office. This will allow the school staff to know that an
authorize person has picked up the student.

child for Kid’s Club, Allen ISD’s after-school
program at Norton?

How do I pay for lunches for my child?
The price of a plate lunch, including milk, is $1.80. Students have several
choices of meats and vegetables in Norton’s unique, food court-style, cafeteria. Snacks such as cookies, ice cream, chips and
fresh fruits may be purchased separately at a cost of $.25 to $.70 depending on
the item. Norton’s cafeteria features a computerized cashier and accounting
system an operates on a no-cash basis during lunch.
The minimum payment of $18.00 (10 lunches) is needed to open your child’s
account. A Super Saver Discount is available, featuring one free lunch with a
deposit of $50.00 or more.

and include the child’s full name, grade and teacher and brought in an envelope
to the cafeteria before school each morning from
